I was downtown with my daughter and my niece yesterday afternoon and we saw that the 1950s era, downtown Macy’s is closing. It was one of the last few days in business. The five story department store had little inventory and several of the floors were empty. It was a creepy adventure, riding the escalators and exploring what was left of the Portland landmark. These ph0toraphs were taken on the fifth floor where they’d stripped down and lined up all the store’s mannequins and priced them for sale. Full mannequins were $50 $100 each. Body parts ranged from $15 to $50 a piece.

Hi Rose! Did you buy a mannequin? Lol

I think it’s so sad when department stores close down, they really are a piece of history and I love a good department store that sells everything and anything

That’s how I feel too. I love the layout of the stores still around from the 1950s & 1960s. It was sad to see this one go.

Those mannequins are creepy! We live in downtown and visited Macy’s shortly before they began their closing sales. We avoided it during the sales, just because it seems so depressing.

I know. It was so depressing and the store had such a 1950s feel. The kids and I were really creeped out. It’s sad too.
